Aleksandra has presented a lighting talk introducing a poster "Computational screening and quantitative modeling of the library of breast tumor spheroids under various microenvironments and treatments"; talk chosen from about 60 poster abstracts. Project in collaboration with Lisa McCawley and Dmitry Markov from Vanderbilt.

2017 August 10th, SURE--Summer Undergraduate Research in Engineering Poster Fair, McGill University, Montreal, Canada

Nikolaos Dimitriou from National Technical University of Athens and a participant in the SURE program at the McGill University in Montreal presented work "Dynamics of cancer cell populations in 3D environments" that included our agent-based modeling framework.

2017 July 11-12th, CSBC-PSON Junior Investigator Meeting, Bethesdam MA

Aleksandra Karolak served as a chair-organiser of the Frist CSBC-PSON (Cancer Systems Biology Consortium & Physical Sciences Oncology Network) Junior Investigator meeting at the NIH/NCI campus in Bethesda.

Aleksandra has also presented a poster "Organoid3D: the role of microenvironmental heterogeneity on the development of breast tumor spheroids elucidated with computational modeling".

Aleksandra Karolak has presened a poster "From single cells to organoids: studying the interplay between therapeutic agents and tumor microenvironment" in collaboration with Dr. Morse (Moffitt Imaging & Metabolism) and Drs. McCawley and Markov (Vanderbilt).

Martin Busik has presented a poster "Circulating Tumor Cells: Flow and Capture Analysis of Cells and Cell Clusters in microfluidics and Vessels" in collaboration with Dr. Cimrka (University of Zilina, Slovakia).

 

2017 May 5th, Mr. Martin Busik joins our lab as a graduate student intern for a research project funded by the the National Scholarship Programme of the Republic of Slovakia. He will work on the "Circulating Tumor Cells in Blood flow and Microfluidic Devices" project.

A poster "Imaged-based computational predictions of imaging agent efficacy in pancreatic tumors espressing TLR2" has been presented by Aleksandra Karolak.

A research poster "Cross-Disciplinary Optimization of Nano-Drug Delivery to Ovarian Carcinoma and Glioma Cells" presentated by Rupin Singh in collaboration with Dr. Marzenna Wiranowska from USF Morsani College of Medicine and Dr. Norma Alcantar from USF Chemical & Biomedical Engineering. An invited talk “Physical interactions in ductal microinvasions: integrating histology with computational modeling” has been given by Kasia Rejniak as a part of the minisymposium: Cancer Cell Biophysics.

A symposium talk "Elucidating the role of tumor microenvironmental heterogeneity with a computational model of 3D breast spheroids" has been given by Aleksandra Karolak as a part of the Computational Methods and Bioinformatics session. Aleksandra has also chaired this session.
