Focus should be on understanding basic physical
principles that underlie biological function.
From Dear Colleague Letter below: The Physics
Division, through the Physics of Living Systems
program, accepts and reviews
investigator-initiated proposals on the
interdisciplinary topic of theoretical physics
in cancer biology. Proposals may involve joint
efforts between investigators from theoretical
physics and researchers from the biomedical
community, although the focus of the project
must be on the role that physics plays in the
effort.

Division of Physics: Investigator-Initiated
Research, Physics of Living Systems
This program targets synergy of theoretical and experimental research
exploring the most fundamental physical
processes that living systems utilize to perform
their functions in dynamic and diverse
environments. The focus of the research
proposals should be on understanding basic
physical principles that underlie biological
function.

Ovarian Cancer |
Kaleidoscope of Hope Foundation
General Research Grants and Young Investigator
Grants
Research proposals in the following areas will
be considered: Early Detection of Ovarian Cancer
incl. precursor cell studies and Treatment of
Ovarian Cancer:
General Research Grant
proposals may be individual projects or part of
a larger project related to ovarian cancer.
Proposals for clinical trials must be original
investigational studies related to ovarian
cancer in which the grantee is the PI or co-PI.
Young Investigator Grants support career
development in the area of ovarian cancer
research.

Resilience in Multiple Contexts |
Advancing Basic Behavioral and Social
Research on Resilience: An Integrative Science
Approach
This FOA solicits applications that will
elucidate mechanisms and processes of resilience
within a general framework that emphasizes its
dynamics and interactions across both time and
scale, multiple contexts, multiple outcomes, and
multiple time frames. This framework can be
applied to multiple contexts (e.g., acute or
chronic stress exposure, including disease,
disaster, unemployment, divorce, etc.), multiple
outcomes (health, function, psychological
well-being, etc.), and multiple time frames
(seconds, minutes, days, years).

Basic Biopsychosocial Mechanisms and
Processes in the
Management of Chronic Conditions
This FOA seeks to stimulate basic inquiry into the mechanisms that
influence people within their larger social
contexts to manage one or multiple conditions

research examining how biological factors (such
as stress reactivity, fatigue, depression,
anxiety, anorexia) influence decision making
related to sustaining adherence to cancer
treatment.
