Dr. Srikumar Chellappan’s Lab

at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute

Welcome to the research laboratory of Dr. Srikumar Chellappan in the Dept. of Tumor Biology at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute in Tampa, Florida. Our laboratory is interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms that regulate cell proliferation, tumor progression, angiogenesis and metastasis. Our studies encompass various aspects of cancer biology, including signal transduction, transcriptional regulation, gene expression analysis and cancer drug discovery.  We utilize a variety of techniques and experimental systems ranging from in vitro studies to cell culture experiments and animal models of cancer.  Our research has been continuously supported by RO1 grants from the NCI since 1994.

Induction of epithelial-mesenchymal transition by nicotine, as evidenced by the loss of tight junctions between cells. ZO1 protein is lost, along with other epithelial markers. See Dasgupta et al., 2009.
